We arrived save and sound back home. It was an epic trip, and the reports will follow during the following weeks - keep your eyes on the blogs of
Roger,
Gustav,
Jörgen & Martin and
Joe. Until my trip report of "The UL Fellowship" will come, I leave you with this impression of the Fellowship crossing into the lands of Morder, ähm, the Swedish Fjell.

Back from Vålådalen
I was nicknamed "Legolas" for my ability to walk over snow without sinking in =)
ReplyDeleteNever follow 'Legolas' across a snow field. I'm not sure if it's his teeny pack, diminutive size or the magical gravity-defying properties of the GoLite umbrella but that guy floats over snow!
ReplyDeleteLove the light in this photo [or lack of it!].
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the full writeup!
There seems to be a LOTR theme going on here. Legolas is a good nickname. What were all the other "Fellowship" members named?
ReplyDeleteLooking very atmospheric............
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. I love the moody light and the implied S-curve of the adventurers moving off into who knows what.
ReplyDeleteYes, once we started humming the LOTR theme, there was no going back. I guess I'm Strider, since my legs are the longest.
ReplyDeleteHmm, a lot of snow, much more than i expected !
ReplyDeleteOn Saturday i leave for a week of packrafting around Rogens naturreservat.
And i think Rogens is around 100 km south of Vålådalen ?
So it looks it's gonna be colder than i thought :)
harrtj, nicknames and more will be revealed in the report =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the other comments about the photo et al, I hope to get around to do the write-up during next week. Need to do more editing on photos till then, though :)
Moski, it wasn't cold and snow was just between forest and the mountains - the fjell was pretty much snow free, whereas the mountain tops were still covered fairly well. Have a look at the yr.no for the region, but I am sure you won't need snowshoes or a super warm winter sleeping system!
Hmm... I have hard time trying to see Hendrik as a tall figure with blond hair... But maybe I can see the pointy ears under the beania. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe LOTR theme is epic! And maybe best possible them for any good trip. It often emerges from the depth of my mind when closing a ridge or peak or what ever...
Awaiting the complete report. Will it be multiple parts? Story of Vålpdalen, part I?
ReplyDelete@Hendrik Morkel
ReplyDeleteThanks, for heads up!
Did you swing the Tenkara on this tripp?
I will walk as little as possible on this tripp, i will paddle till death :)
Moski,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hendrik that "summer fell gear" is enough. That's what I used. One of the points with this trip, for me at least, was to test the limits of ordinary summer gear. I had no problems whatsoever. Maybe I had thicker long-johns (ullfrotté) than I usually take, but it would have been ok with thinner.
On the other hand, I don't plan to go packrafting...
@Martin Nordesjö
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comforting comment.
Because i am going with summer gear.
And i don't really think it matters if i am hiking or packrafting.
If i don't flip that is.
If i do, it will be cold for awhile.
Ehh, sorry guys!
ReplyDeleteDid you have a good time ?
:)
